Mine are hurting right now and begging me to get some sleep (the eyes, not the other things).

Holy crap how behind on this am I? Snagged this meme ages ago from [info]sociologique.

reply to this post and i will make you a letter gift. take the gifted letter to your harddrive and upload five songs. five shalt be the number you shalt upload, and the number of the uploading shall be five. six shalt thou not count, neither count thou four, excepting that thou then proceed to five. seven is right out.

Brad Bird and Pete Docter are officially my two favorite Pixar directors.

(I wouldn't necessarily recommend seeing Up in 3D; I personally totally forgot about the 3D aspect once the film started.)

Just started Ouran Host Club today (anime) and holy crap it's awesome, I love it!

Actually, the Sheepman and I've been ingesting a lot of media lately, it feels like. (Thank Netflix.) This is what I have gathered from the things we have been putting into our eyes, so far. Spoiler Free! )

Hey fools, we all saw Star Trek, right? And we all agree it was awesome, yes? And that John Cho is some pretty hot Asian ass, yeah? And that Sylar himself is just okay but for some reason when he dons the Spock outfit his sex appeal goes up like 1400%? Yeah, I thought so. (This Star Trek was so made for women, I mean seriously.)

Anton Yelchin is still adorable! And so many other things that were awesome about the movie, just go see it, honestly.

Reading Death Note. On Vol. 10. Yeeeeeah. Honestly, I'm kinda suffering, guys. This thing is about eight volumes too long. Not going to argue about with the concept, the concept's fabulous. But DN is kinda overhyped.

L is adorable, though

Damn it, no one is allowing embedding of this video! Anyway, chances are if you spend any amount of time on the internet, you have heard of Susan Boyle and how this homely 47-year old floored the judges on Britain's Got Talent when she launched into song. She does have a pretty fantastic voice and there weren't a lot of dry eyes in the room, but what really got me was the progression of Simon Cowell's reaction from resigned to shocked to SchoolboyCrushFace.

... I must have a thing for grumpy older men with pretty smiles. Ahem.

The vid is here and is worth a viewing, if not for Simon Cowell's adorable (and startlingly accurate) emoticon renditions, then for Susan Boyle's performance, which really is rather impressive.

Seriously, Simon's face. Freaking adorable. He is such a dork.

I meant to post this with the last happy!spam post, but had too many other posty things swimming around in my head to remember. This just makes me posting exclusively about it even more significant!

I first saw this trailer like... a year ago? And instantly went OMG NEED TO VISUALLY INGEST THIS NOW.

Animated completely by Atsuya Uki, who's also responsible for the manga that Cencoroll is based on. Fresh meat for the animation industry! I love the animation. It looks delicious.

New trailer went up this weekend, btw. I gots to see this.

In other news, I have a job interview.

So in Los Angeles there's this phenomenon known as the Kogi taco cart that's been puttering about the city since... January or so? It may have started earlier than that.

The truck serves Korean tacos (!!!), which is kind of a neat fusion in and of itself, but the real draw is chasing it down - it changes locations throughout the day, and before in order to keep track of its exact location you needed to subscribe to their twitter feed. They've since begun updating on their site where they'll be and for how long, with the occasional "Surprise location (check the Twitter)."

The site announced they'd be in Burbank last night, and wow, news in the studio spread like a cat in heat yesterday. I intended to drop by and grab some for dinner - the sheepman and I are (and were, respectively) Kogi taco virgins, having only heard of them a few weeks ago - but once I saw the 100+ person line, I said, "FUUUUUCK THAT."

Then a friend of mine left me a present of their four different types of tacos in the fridge today for lunch. Because I have awesome friends. b^^d

My verdict - tasty! I don't know if it's an hour-and-a-half's-worth-of-waiting tasty, but it succeeded at pretty tasty. I tried the spicy pork (not bad) and the short ribs (DELICIOUS). I don't like fusion cuisine, but this works. Maybe because there's just something so down-to-earth about taco carts? idk.

It's ingenious marketing, really. Makes people feel like they are part of some higher inner circle that gains enlightenment via the consumption of tacos. It's like Fluffy Bunny from Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.

... I wouldn't mind another short rib taco now...

(More info here on the Kogi BBQ taco truck.)

I discovered DYIPhotography.net today.

I like it!

Other things that are neat:
Blogger Beware - Everybody remembers Goosebumps (and if you do not, wth, srsly). So terrible and yet so awesome. This guy's reviews are hilarious.
Poladroid.net - Make any picture you take look like a Polaroid!

Things you should put into your eyes (arty things):
First the ladies! Because everybody needs to know about talented lady artists.
Lynne Naylor She draws awesome ladies (and she totally worked on PpG d00ds)!
Lauren Montgomery's blog I love her posing! (Note: not the pr0n star.)
Brianne Drouhard's blog (GAAAHHH SO GOOD.) Can't enumerate all the things I love about her stuff. Color, characters, expressions, laaaahhhhve it.
kirsten ulve Crazy fantastic shapes, very strong design element. She and and Lynne are both more illustration-y and have really stylized things going on.

And some love for the boys, too:
Adam Hughes' devart DROOOOOOOL. I generally don't go for mainstream comic art because... well, because honestly it all looks the same to me and I don't think the style has really evolved much over the years. I do love Adam's stuff though, with like, flaming burning passion fire sticks. His composition just floooooors me. And I love his pseudo-art nouveau style. Not to mention the women are hot, since, you know, these are comics we're talking here. BOOBIES
Joey Chou's blog - This guy works on our show now and his stuff is fucking amazing, i♥it. His stuff is so soft and sweet and pretty! He has designed some ridiculously creative buildings for us that will show up next season ;D

I'm going to go hunting in the kitchen now. Anyone got any favorite art blogs to share?

BEST DAY EVER.

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday! I "organized" something after work involving me and a bunch of co-workers going out for drinks. As is the way with these things, I made a reservation for 15 people, and about 8 total were there at any given point in time. Fun nonetheless! We were there for like, 5 fucking hours. Made doubly sweet not by the fact that the studio closed at 3p, but that for the first time since I started working there I ACTUALLY WAS ABLE TO LEAVE EARLY. Thank God it wasn't a ship day!

Good things happened! (Besides the drinking and socializing, that is.) I am typing on my glorious new best friend. I love it. I love it so much. Pictures forthcoming, seriously you guys, I fucking love this thing and cannot put it down. I love it and its tiny keyboard! I have nicknamed it Captain Sparklepants. I also call it Awesomepants, Pearl, and Oyster.

Yesterday instead of doing turkey we did Gyu-Kaku because fuck, what a deal. We were planning on going to Sushi Gen today for their awesome sashimi lunch special, but were too full from last night's meatfest. Whatever, I'm taking like an extra week off in January, so we could eat there every damn day if we wanted.

I need to share this with the world, by the way. Please, please watch it, it's only two minutes of your Goddamn day. And thank [info]aardwulf for bringing it to my attention, because I haven't watched a fucking Macy's Day Parade in years and had it not been for her I never would've caught this. A shame that Foster's is done :( On the other hand, I had this bizarre dream last night where Craig McCracken showed up and I was like HOW DO I TELL HIM HE IS AWESOME and he was all "Hi Jen" and I made this face ~~~~~D8)

Turkey this weekend

Cheers!

Wednesday they announced a 3rd season pickup for NHK, so here's to being employed for another year, at least! Hm. Probably a bit longer. Like a year and half at most. So for those interested parties (you know who you are), that means we'll need to be hiring SB revisionists at some point... the downside is I'm guessing it'll be closer to early summer that they start looking, but if you're still interested keep your eyes peeled miss you-know-who. (I will keep you posted as well!)

I guess Wednesday was a big day for announcing pickups. Alas, Pushing Daisies was axed. However, Private Practice is still inexplicably being aired, so, you know, have fun with that garbage, ABC.

I admit to watching parts of Grey's Anatomy this past Thursday. It's like the shitty ex I don't want to let go of but would never dream of sleeping with ever again; mostly I just want to see him FAIL, and fail HARD. In that facet, Grey's, you shall never disappoint.

In housekeeping news, I bought this amazing Soft Scrub spray that I attacked our tub with. Seriously, it took me like fifteen minutes to clean. Soft Scrub, I love you. Is there any problem you can't fix?

I've been all coughy since Thursday night. Fuck you, throat.

So I'm reading Twilight.

Allow me to summarize the first 276 pages for you:

NOTHING HAPPENS

I do not understand this phenomenon. Why anyone would want to read over 300 pages of some fangirl going "OMG VAMPIRE BOY, HE IS SO BOOTIFUL" is beyond my comprehension. DARE I SAY. My MORTAL comprehension.

I bet if I was a vampire I would totally understand

Except if I was a vampire I would still have more dignity than that

THIS IS SO FUGGING AWESOME

I meant to post about this last week, and now I wish I had because nearly 50% of their parts are out of stock now, but hey, better late than never!

You can make your own Muppets now at the Muppet Whatnot Workshop Boutique at F.A.O. Schwartz for a measly $90! A pretty good deal IMO. Delivery takes about 3-4 weeks, so if someone on your Christmas list could use, you know, a muppet, order them now while there's still parts and time for it to arrive. I myself don't want one, but I do think the idea is pretty damn cool.

OH HEY ALSO ALL YOU WALL-E FANS

This is not going to be up on the interwebz long before Disney yanks it off, so catch Burn-E while you can.

Supposed to be included on the DVD release. It's super fuckin' cute. (4:30 ftw)

Care.org is this organization that's fighting global poverty by concentrating on educating the lady-beings, particularly in impoverished countries. This weekend, if you were like, you know, planning on doing some early Christmas shopping or whatever, when you present this coupon to the Gap, Banana Republic, or Old Navy, 5% of your money goes to Care. Also, you get 30% off your total purchase (probably excluding clearance items, though I can't say for sure).

Just thought I'd, you know. Pass it on.
